Hundreds of Utahns spent the night on the sidewalk outside Salt Lake's Capitol Theatre hoping to get tickets for the musical "Wicked: the Untold Story of the Witches of Oz."
The musical about what happened before Dorothy dropped in has won 20 awards, including 3 Tonys and a Grammy and will be in Utah from April 8, 2009 to May 3, 2009.
People the world over are so taken with it, once they've seen it, they want to take their children, parents, friends.
David Chamberlain said, "My wife and I saw this in Minnesota a while ago, and we wanna see it again, bring our kids to it." Chamberlain was happy because he was the first person in line."
Mary Ellen Crase is also a big fan of "Wicked." She said, "Obviously, I'm wearing the ‘Wicked' paraphernalia today. I order ‘Wicked' shirts of every production. I have shirts with all of the actors on them."
The box office at the Capitol Theatre opened at 7 a.m. and online tickets were available starting at 10 this morning. The Web site reports "Wicked" is sold-out.
