When LeBron James passed Kareem Abdul-Jabbar for the NBA's career scoring record, it ended Abdul-Jabbar's 39-year reign as the all-time points champion. It shined a light on how much work James had to do over 20 seasons to catch Abdul-Jabbar. And it shows how much work somebody in the future is going to have to do in order to catch James atop the NBA list. But it will not settle the Greatest Of All Time debate, because that one cannot be settled.
