SALT LAKE CITY — Two men were arrested early Monday in connection with a suspected road rage incident in Salt Lake City.

Just after 3 a.m., a man called 911 to report that another car was following him near 800 W. North Temple. While police were en route, dispatchers were told that a passenger in the back seat had now pointed a gun at the victim, according to a statement from Salt Lake police.

The vehicle, which had three people inside, was located and pulled over by officers.

Mitchell Grant Motta, 31, who was sitting in the back seat, was arrested for investigation of aggravated assault and being a restricted person in possession of a gun. A handgun and a rifle were found in the back seat where Motta was sitting, police sad.

The driver, Robert Alexander Kimsey, 35, was arrested for investigation of drug-related charges — including possession of a fentanyl pill — and driving on a suspended license, in addition to having an outstanding warrant.

The third person was released by police. No injuries were reported.
