SALT LAKE CITY — Georgia left no doubt on the field that it is the best team in the country.
The Bulldogs dominated a high-powered Tennessee team led by Heisman hopeful quarterback Hendon Hooker and made a convincing case that it should be the No. 1 team in the country. The college football world, once again, runs through Athens, Georgia.
Georgia was easily named the No. 1 team in the Associated Press Top 25 rankings there were released on Sunday and the College Football Playoff rankings that were released Tuesday night on ESPN. In similar fashion, the Bulldogs easily moved to the top of the KSL.com Top 25 Fan Poll this week with 130 first-place votes.
Some people are still holding out hope for Tennessee and had the Vols ranked as the No. 1 team (11 ballots to be exact) this week, and another five people stuck with Ohio State as their No. 1 team. The Buckeyes, however, remain No. 2 this week and the Volunteers fall to No. 4, just behind an undefeated Michigan.
