(KSL News) Some Herriman residents are back home this morning after a wildfire forced them to evacuate.
An artillery round ignited the fire near Camp Williams. Strong wind made it hard to contain, but firefighters believe they finally have it under control.
They credit control lines, cooler overnight temperatures and the morning moisture for knocking out the flames.
In fact, Unified firefighters have all been released from the scene. They were assisting for structure protection, but the fire never got closer than a half mile of homes.
The fire scorched more than 500 acres.
