NEPHI — A semitruck driver is in critical condition Monday morning after crashing on 1-15 and blocking all northbound traffic lanes.
The crash happened at 4:25 a.m. about seven miles south of Nephi. The driver, who was hauling household appliances, was airlifted from the scene, Sgt. Cameron Roden of the Utah Highway Patrol said.
Roden also said the right lane reopened just after 7 a.m. but that the left lane was still closed at that time. The road is now completely clear, he said, though the truck is still there and the road will shut down again briefly when it's uprighted.
Roden said investigators think the driver may have fallen asleep, ran off the road to the right and rolled when he was coming back on the road.
