SNOWVILLE, Box Elder County — A 15-year-old girl was killed in a rollover accident Friday afternoon on I-84 and two other people were injured.
The incident happened just before 4 p.m., when a Chrysler Pacifica van westbound between Howell and Snowville in Box Elder County rolled into the median, partially ejecting the 15-year-old, according to Utah Highway Patrol trooper Andrew Battenfield.
The 15-year-old died at the site of the crash. The 17-year-old female driver and her mother were transported to a local hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening, Utah Highway Patrol said in a press release.
"High winds and lack of experience contributed to this tragic accident," Utah Highway Patrol said.
Police said that the family was headed back home to Washington state. The name of the person killed has not been released.
One lane of traffic is closed on westbound I-84, according to the Utah Department of Transportation. The crash is estimated to be cleared after 8 p.m.
