THE WAVES – I've always thought surfing was an awesome sport — out in the sun and the waves, riding on top of the water.
One of my dreams has been to ride inside the tube, just to see how amazing it is inside of the wave as you travel through it. Unfortunately, my balance and athleticism are a joke, so that dream will never come true. I mean, I've been in a tube before, but I was being tossed like a rag doll and couldn't tell what was up or down and didn't get to see the beauty.
While I would struggle to lay on a surfboard and stay on the thing, there are people like Kalani Vierra and Krystl Apeles, who not only surf but tandem surf.
What is tandem surfing, you ask? Oh, you didn't ask? I don't care, because I'm telling you.
Tandem surfing is when there are two people on the board and they do all kinds of stunts and balancing acts. It's incredible to watch.
This video is from 2016, but not enough of you have seen it because it has less than 250,000 page views. Apeles was a gymnast and Vierra is a lifelong surfer. So, the two of them got together and started tandem surfing.
I am in awe on a daily basis at what people can do, and this is just one more talent that blows my mind. It reminds me that I'll find my talent someday — unless eating a family-size bag of chips in one sitting is a talent. If so, then I'm good. I've found my calling in life.
