HOLLADAY — Two people were arrested Wednesday night in connection with a large burglary ring that resulted in hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of property being taken from homes and vehicles across Salt Lake County.

Joshua William Corbin, 36, and Charlee Dawn Hansen, 26, were each arrested for investigation of eight counts of burglary, eight counts of theft, two counts of firearm theft, and failing to respond to an officer's signal to stop. Corbin was also arrested for investigation of aggravated assault.

On Feb. 9, Unified police held a press conference to show hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of stolen property that had been recovered by detectives. Unified Deputy Police Chief Justin Hoyal called it "probably one of the largest seizures I've seen in my career of stolen property."

Police recovered bicycles, power tools, rare coins, guns, comic books, sports memorabilia, golf clubs, skis, snowboards, a motorcycle, stamps, dental equipment and even gear from the Unified Fire Authority that was stolen out of a firefighter's personal vehicle.

The investigation began in January following a series of burglaries at the Station condominium complex in Holladay. Corbin and Hansen committed eight burglaries at the complex, according to a police booking affidavit.

"The total loss for these burglaries is over $200,000, with eight victims reporting varying levels of loss. The property stolen included rare stamps and coins, records, comic books, auto parts, personal identifying documents, ammunition, golf clubs, guitars and many additional items," the affidavit states.

Information collected from that investigation led detectives to serve three search warrants on Feb. 8 — two at storage sheds in West Jordan and Midvale and one at a home in West Jordan where Corbin lives.

"As police were setting up to serve the warrant, Corbin spotted police and fled at a high rate of speed, endangering public safety, in a blue Ford F-150 with a stolen plate attached. This Ford F-150 is believed to be stolen," according to the affidavit.

Inside Corbin's residence, police reported finding "rare stamp and coin collection, skis, comic books, personal identifying documents, guitars, and a large amount of additional stolen items" that investigators believe were taken from "burglaries and thefts across Salt Lake County."

At one of the storage sheds where another warrant was served, "hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of stolen property was located and recovered. Included in this stolen property were two stolen firearms out of Herriman and Salt Lake City, along with ammunition," the affidavit states. Some of the recovered items were determined to be stolen over the past several months.

On Feb. 10, police spotted Corbin and Hansen and attempted to pull them over, but said the couple again fled from officers.

Wednesday, police were keeping surveillance on Corbin and Hansen and saw them in a vehicle stolen out of Lehi, and then later saw them in a second stolen vehicle, a Ford F-150. They again attempted to get away and rammed two police patrol cars, according to the affidavit. This time, both were arrested.

Hansen, who told police she is Corbin's girlfriend, said she assisted in the burglaries at the Station by acting as a lookout, according to the arrest report.

Unified police say trying to sort through all the recovered stolen property will be a "massive" undertaking and will likely take months to identify the rightful owners.
