TOOELE — A man has died as a result of a rollover accident on 1-80 in Tooele County on Tuesday afternoon.
The accident happened at around 4:30 p.m. when a driver and one passenger were eastbound on I-80 about 50 miles west of Tooele, Utah Highway Patrol Sgt. Cameron Roden said. For a reason that is still unknown, the vehicle left the road on the left side, rolled multiple times, and eventually landed again in the eastbound lanes.
Roden said that an adult male was ejected from the vehicle and died from his injures, and the other passenger was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
While the cause is unknown, witnesses to the accident reported that the vehicle was "driving recklessly and at a high rate of speed before rolling," Roden said.
Officials have not determined who was driving the vehicle at the time, and the name of the man who was killed has not been released at this time.
