SALT LAKE CITY – Utah County Attorney David Leavitt announced Wednesday that he has COVID-19 for a second time and has quarantined himself in the Netherlands, where he was visiting when he tested positive for the disease.
Leavitt first contracted COVID-19 in April of 2020. Regarding that first experience with the virus, Leavitt said that he had "fevers, muscle aches, fatigue like I have never experienced."
In a press release sent Wednesday, Leavitt said that he had been visiting Ukraine when he began feeling ill and tested positive with the pandemic virus.
"We had urgent family matters there and in light of the threat of invasion of Russia, I jumped on a plane with my sons," Leavitt said in the statement. "Our original plan was to take care of the matter over the weekend."
Leavitt said that he will remain in quarantine in Amsterdam until he tests negative and is safe to travel.
