WEST JORDAN — A Salt Lake man accused of sexually assaulting three young girls who sneaked out of a house during a sleepover now faces numerous criminal charges.
Azeem Sardar, 25, was charged Monday in 3rd District Court with three counts of rape of a child, two counts of sodomy on a child and forcible sodomy, all first-degree felonies; plus three counts of sex abuse of a child and forcible sexual abuse, both second-degree felonies.
West Jordan police say three girls, all between the ages of 12 and 14, were having a sleepover at the home of one of the girls in July when they met Sardar on Snapchat. The girls sneaked out of the house and went to a nearby store where they waited to meet up with Sardar who they said was going to supply them with marijuana and nicotine, according to charging documents.
Sardar picked up the girls in his truck and took them to a nearby park where he asked, "Who's going first?" the charges allege. Sardar then sexually assaulted all three girls who said they were afraid to say no, the charges state.
When interviewed by police, Sardar said he didn't know how old the girls were when they contacted him on Snapchat but admitted "when he looked at the girls he was scared because he was not sure how old they were," according to the charging documents.
Prosecutors have requested Sardar be held in the Salt Lake County Jail without bail pending trial.
