SALT LAKE CITY — One man was hospitalized in critical condition Sunday after a single car crash in Emigration Canyon.

The crash occurred around 4 p.m. near 6821 E. Emigration Canyon Road, when the car, with three men inside, went off the road and down an embankment, Unified Police Sgt. Melody Cutler said.

After the crash, two of the men fled while one man was stuck in the car and later required extrication, Cutler said. The man stuck in the car was taken to University of Utah Hospital in critical condition.

One of the two men who fled was taken into police custody, and the other was still at large late Sunday, according to Cutler.

The crash is under investigation and alcohol is a suspected factor in the crash, she said.
