FARMINGTON — One adult and one child died following a crash Sunday on I-15 near Farmington, police said.

The fatal crash occurred when a white Infiniti G35 crossed a traffic lane on I-15 and collided with an Incident Management truck, the Department of Public Safety said. The Infiniti collided with the driver's side of the truck. The driver of Infiniti died on impact, DPS said. The passenger of the Infiniti, a 10-year-old in the backseat, was transported by helicopter to a local hospital, according to the DPS, and later died from his injuries.

The driver of the truck was taken to the hospital with minor injuries and was released a short time later, DPS said.

The crash closed the southbound lanes of the freeway at Legacy Parkway for nearly three hours, but they have since reopened.
