SALT LAKE CITY — One person died and three others, including a 9-year-old child, were injured in a head-on collision near Pineview Reservoir Sunday afternoon, the Utah Highway Patrol said.
A car was eastbound on state Route 39 near the reservoir when it crossed the center line and collided with a westbound pickup truck about 4:40 p.m. according to a UHP news release. The car came to rest near the crash scene, facing south. The pickup rolled onto its top on a dirt pullout next to the reservoir.
The car's driver died at the scene. Their name hasn't been released yet.
A 9-year-old child in the back of the car was taken to a local hospital in critical condition. They were not properly restrained at the time of the crash, UHP said. An adult passenger was transported in serious condition.
The driver of the pickup had injuries to his lower extremities. His condition wasn't reported.
