MILLCREEK — A man was killed early Friday after being hit by a car on I-215, troopers said.
About 5:29 a.m., a truck and trailer were traveling north on I-215 east belt when the trailer became detached from the truck and came to rest with the trailer in the center lane at about 3400 South, said Utah Highway Patrol Sgt. Cameron Roden.
A Toyota 4Runner driving north in the center lane hit the trailer, Roden said.
After that initial crash, the driver of the 4Runner exited his vehicle and was hit by a Fiat car.
The 4Runner driver died of his injuries. His name has not yet been released.
Northbound I-215 in the area remained closed at 3900 South until about 10 a.m., the Utah Department of Transportation said.
Videos taken at the scene and shared on social media showed drivers exiting the freeway using the on-ramp in Holladay.
