SALT LAKE CITY — Check back here for the latest scores from all the Week 8 high school football games across the state.
Game of the Week: Lone Peak at Corner Canyon
Why did we choose this game?
Corner Canyon earns the honor, once again, of being featured in our Game of the Week — this time under the Thursday Night Lights. And there's one main reason: history. The Chargers tied the Utah High School Activities Association record (held by Duchesne from 2010-14) Friday with its 48th straight win in a dominant 56-0 performance over Westlake. And the Chargers show no signs of stopping.
But only one team stands in the way of halting the streak and that's one-loss Lone Peak in the penultimate game of the regular season. The Knights suffered a 14-9 loss to Skyridge last week — Skyridge lost to Corner Canyon 38-23 two weeks ago — but they'll be up to the task in an effort to disrupt history.
For all the success Corner Canyon has had over the last few seasons, including three straight 6A state titles, Thursday night's game may be the most important of them all. Corner Canyon has the chance to rewrite the history books. The only remaining question is: When will the streak stop if the Chargers get past the Knights?
Other games we'll be watching:
- Alta running back Anson Jaramillo shines in dominant victory over Jordan
- Timpanogos pulls away from Tooele in 48-34 win as it eyes region title

On Friday, we'll have another Game of the Week (yes, multiple) as we follow Region 2's West at Kearns. Other games we'll be watching Friday are as follows:
- Region 3: Riverton at Mountain Ridge
- Region 5: Bountiful at Northridge
