DRAPER — A man died in a paraglider crash at the Salt Lake County Hang Gliding Park at the Point of the Mountain in Draper on Thursday evening.
The man crashed on the mountaintop above the flight park about 7:30 p.m., according to Draper Police Lt. Pat Evans.
Medics got to the scene, and the medics, along with some civilians, climbed up to the site where the man crashed. They tried to resuscitate him, but they were unsuccessful, Evans said.
As of 9 p.m., crews were waiting for a Department of Public Safety helicopter to arrive at the flight park to hoist the man's body down from the crash site, Evans added.
He did not know if the man was flying by himself or if he was with a group of people at the flight park. The man has not been identified.
The investigation is ongoing and was in early stages on Thursday evening, Evans said. Further details about the crash weren't immediately available.
