THE SLO-MO REALM — There is something inherently cool about slow motion.
Ever since I was a kid, I've been fascinated with seeing stuff move in slow motion — and I know I'm not the only one. I'll find videos on my phone of action figures and Batmobiles being flung through the air in my basement in slow motion, thanks to my son. He has a habit of stealing my phone to throw stuff around the house and video-record it in slo-mo.
I also know I'm not the only one who loves slow-motion stuff because the Slow Mo Guys on YouTube have been filming stuff at high frame rates for years and now have over 14 million subscribers. Their latest video asks a question: "What if every second lasted an hour?"
Well, turns out the answer is simple: It would be excruciatingly exhausting.
Gavin, of the Slow Mo Guys, has a camera that films at 90,000 frames per second, which would make one second equal one hour.
He goes into how long a minute, an hour, a day and even a year would be at that speed and just know it's a lot. Like, a whole lot.
The video is pretty cool, and it's crazy how slow everything moves. I imagine washing my hands and what an ordeal that would be. But my favorite thing has to be that water balloon pop. You'll see what I mean.
