THE LONDON ZOO — If you've ever been to a zoo, you know at least three things are true: you'll smell more manure than you wish, there will be more strollers than you thought possible, and any and all the big cats will be asleep and/or ignoring everyone.
Well one group of zoogoers recently got a unique and thrilling experience with the lions at The London Zoo. To set the stage, note that there are many kids and one big-kid man roaring at a male and female lion, and the surprises immediately start.
In the video, you'll see at least three things that defy a typical experience with big cats at the zoo.
- The lions are not only awake, but the male lion is actually paying attention. No back turning, so lazy glances to show that he doesn't care about any of you.
- The roaring spectators not only have the lion's attention, but he is actually roaring back!
- The lion has honed in on the "roars" of the big-kid man and is following the rhythms of the human's roars, not unlike the mimic of a parrot.
This is the stuff that kid dreams are made of — this, and the thrill of being successful when pumping your arm up and down to get truckers to honk their horns.
Of course, since this is the most anyone in the history of ever has ever seen that much activity from a lion at the zoo (not researched), the big cat immediately is exhausted and flops over for a well-deserved nap.
