CLEARFIELD — The northbound lanes of I-15 through Clearfield will be closed Monday night as the Utah Department of Transportation continues work on the I-15 Express Lanes project.
The closure will include all lanes between 700 South and 650 North. The closure will begin at 11:30 p.m. UDOT will reopen the lanes Tuesday at 5:30 a.m.
While the freeway is closed, those driving north will be detoured off I-15 at the 700 South exit. The detour will lead drivers back onto I-15 via Main Street and 650 North. UDOT says 10-minute delays with the detour are possible. Drivers are encouraged to plan ahead, use an alternate route, or avoid the area if possible.
During the closure, construction crews will be installing a new overhead traffic sign. The project is adding new Express Lanes and repairing sections of I-15 between Layton Parkway and Riverdale Road. It is also meant to help improve traffic flow and cut down on congestion while providing a better ride for drivers.
UDOT says the project should be completed by the end of the year. For additional information, visit udot.utah.gov/i15express
