OGDEN — State Route 39 has reopened in Ogden Canyon after a grass fire caused a road closure overnight, according to the Utah Department of Transportation.
The closure was between the mouth of the canyon near Ogden and Pineview Reservoir. As of 8:30 a.m. Thursday, the canyon has reopened, according to UDOT.
The fire, which has been dubbed the Alaskan Fire, is 25% contained as of Thursday morning, state and federal fire officials reported through Utah Fire Info. Two engines and a ten-person fire crew is assigned to the blaze, and two firefighting helicopters are available to help fight the fire, officials said.
The road in the canyon is open, but people in the area are asked to drive cautiously, fire officials said.

On Wednesday evening, Utah fire officials said that resources were responding to the fire which is showing active fire behavior. At about 7:30 p.m. officials said that structures were threatened but by 8:30 p.m. the structures were no longer threatened.
Fire officials estimated the fire at 2.5 acres at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday and said that it was burning on the south side of the road on the north slope of Ogden Canyon. Officials said that the fire is burning in steep and rugged terrain.
