RANDOLPH — Two Arizona residents who died in a head-on crash on Saturday were identified by the Utah Highway Patrol on Wednesday; two others were also seriously injured in the accident.
A 2018 Toyota RAV4 was northbound on state Route 16 just north of Randolph at about 12:55 p.m., Utah Highway Patrol officials said. At the same time, a 2013 Ford Expedition was southbound.
The RAV4, for unknown reasons, swerved into oncoming traffic and struck the Expedition head-on. The driver of the Toyota, identified Wednesday as Robert J. Ritchie, 68, and his passenger, Vicki K. Henderson, 62, both of Tucson, Arizona, died in the crash, UHP officials said.
The driver of the Expedition was transported to the hospital by ambulance and the passenger was airlifted. The driver and the passenger of the Expedition had significant injuries, according to UHP. No update was given on their conditions Wednesday.
The roadway was closed for approximately four hours with little impact on traffic.
