THE PASSENGER SEAT — Most people don't believe in magic, but I know it's real. If it's not, then how else do you explain the fact that the moment a man becomes a dad he can immediately spit out dad jokes on the fly and is endowed with dad strength?
So, yeah, magic is real — and as dads, we relish in it.
A dad cannot pick up anything weighing more than a potato chip for six years, but he can move that hide-a-bed sofa out of your basement by himself. He can also walk by you moving a tire from the garage and say, "Hey, you look tired" without missing a beat, or dropping the couch on his foot which is inside a sock peeking through his sandals.
Dad's are awesome, and this dad just won the dad joke competition. All of us dads applaud his joke and hate him for it because we didn't think of it first.
In the video, a daughter is waiting in the car for her dad to take her on her first driving lesson. The passenger door opens and dad sits down, calmly buckles his belt, and then looks at his daughter.
That description would lead you to believe nothing was out of the ordinary, but the dad was dressed as a crash test dummy. The daughter just stares at the dad until eventually she takes the keys out of the ignition and says, "You play too much" before getting out of the car.
Not only is the gag hilarious, but it's the perfect dad joke because those related to the dad hate the joke and all of us are loving it.
Let this be a lesson to all dads that it's time for us to step up our game — and a lesson to all kids that you can never escape the dad jokes. They will find you and they will deliver the punchline.
