PRICE — Two people are in stable condition after being stabbed in a home in northwest Price, police say.

Shortly after 6 a.m. Wednesday, officers responded to reports of the stabbing to find two victims and several witnesses inside the residence, according to a Price City Police Department Facebook post.

The suspect, identified as 29-year-old Colton Samuel Powell, fled the scene. Police said that the two injured people were transported to Castleview Hospital, with one them later being life-flighted to Provo. The two were in stable condition Wednesday afternoon, according to police.

Carbon County School District alerted parents to avoid the area following the incident. After Powell fled, the district had a tentative plan for a lockdown until he was located. Powell was found in the backyard of a residence nearby at 7:17 a.m., police said.

Powell was armed with a bloody knife and had "sustained significant trauma," according to police. After police say Powell ignored multiple commands from officers and attempted to run, they were able to take him into custody following Taser deployment.

Police said that Powell was transported to a trauma facility in the Salt Lake County area by EMS and deputies with the Carbon County Sheriff's Office.

Further information was not released.
