KAYSVILLE — A driver suspected of reckless driving was transported to the hospital after his car was disabled by a trooper on Wednesday, Utah Highway Patrol said.
According to UHP, at 6:18 p.m. troopers received calls about a reckless driver in a white Hyundai speeding at 100 mph and passing traffic on the right shoulder on I-15 in Kaysville. The suspect exited at 200 North and headed east where a four-car crash occurred due to the driver, troopers said. According to UHP, there were no injuries in those crashes.
The driver then continued southbound on U.S. 89, still at 100 mph through Fruit Heights and reentered I-15. UHP said that after the driver drove onto I-15, a trooper performed a "modified intervention technique" striking the Hyundai as it exited at Parrish Lane. After the Hyundai was hit, it spun through the intersection towards Legacy Highway and crashed into the median.
Troopers said that the driver was taken by ambulance to the hospital as a precaution.
Utah's State Bureau of Investigation and the Highway Patrol are both investigating, troopers said.
Further details, including the identity of the driver, were not released.
