KAYSVILLE — A home in Kaysville was destroyed in a large fire Tuesday night — the second time in four years that the house has burned down.

Emergency dispatchers began receiving multiple 911 calls just before 10:30 p.m. of a house on fire at 1166 S. Sunset Drive.

"As we arrived on scene, we could see that the house was fully engulfed in flames," said Kaysville Fire Capt. Jason Taylor.

Firefighters from several agencies were called to assist. Crews worked into Wednesday morning putting out hot spots, with the fire being declared under control at 12:25 a.m.

"The home suffered major damage with several roof and wall collapses," according to a prepared statement from the Kaysville Fire Department.

No one was injured in the incident. The cause of the fire remained under investigation Wednesday.

Neighbors said the same house was also heavily damaged in a fire four years ago and had to be rebuilt.

"It was surreal to see the same house burning we watched burn a few years ago," said neighbor Kendra Michaelis. "I'm so relieved that the family wasn't inside."

"It was devastating," Steve Michaelis added.
