LAYTON — A 54-year old man was killed and a 20-year old was hospitalized after an automobile accident on state Route 193 in Layton on Tuesday, police said.

According to Layton Police Lt. Shawn Horton, around 2 p.m. a 20-year old man was driving a full-sized truck heading westbound on state Route 193 when he turned southbound onto 725 West. The truck collided with a black GMC Acadia SUV being driven by a 54-year old man who was traveling eastbound on state Route 193, said Horton.

A medical helicopter was flown in for the 54-year old, shutting down roads between Hill Field Road and state Route 193 and University Parkway and state Route 193. Horton said that the medical helicopter didn't end up transporting the 54-year old man; he was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The 20-year old sustained injuries in the crash and was transported to the hospital.

Further information, including the identities of those involved, was not released.
