SALT LAKE CITY — Police in Cache County arrested a man who they say became so angry that a convenience store wouldn't sell him beer for $1 that employees had to lock him out of the store.
The 47-year-old man entered a convenience store in North Park on Monday night and "demanded" that an employee sell him beer, a police booking affidavit states.
But the man only offered to pay $1.
"The employee said to the male that $1 wasn't enough to purchase the beer. Employee stated after being told he couldn't purchase the beer, the male became belligerent and started yelling and smacking things," according to the affidavit.
The employee and other witnesses were able to get the man outside and lock the doors behind him before calling police.
As an officer was putting the man into his patrol car, he spit on the officer, according to the affidavit. He was subsequently booked into the Cache County Jail for investigation of commercial obstruction and assault on an officer.
