OGDEN — Fremont High School and Uintah High School are pivoting toward remote learning due to an increase in positive COVID-19 cases, Uintah and Weber school districts announced on Monday.

Uintah Superintendent Rick Woodford said that remote learning will begin on Tuesday after Uintah High reported new positive COVID-19 cases between Friday and Monday. According to the district, Uintah's total case count over the 14-day period is currently at 19, passing the 15 positive case threshold set by the health department.

Fremont High School will also be transitioning to online learning for the second time as the school reaches over 30 positive COVID-19 cases, according to school officials. The district said that multiple cases occurred across the sports teams as they took part in the "Test to Play" program.

Like Uintah, Fremont will begin remote learning on Tuesday, and both schools will return for in-person learning after the break on Jan. 4.
