HEBER CITY — A gyrocopter crashed near Heber Valley Airport, killing the pilot on Wednesday, a Utah Highway Patrol official confirmed.

A 911 caller told dispatch that they had seen the gyrocopter take a "nosedive" but said there was no smoke or flames.

First responders were at the scene of the crash around 3:30 p.m. near the airport, which is located at 630 Airport Road.

Utah Department of Transportation closed the right lane near 3600 South near U.S. 189, but it was reopened around 5:30 p.m.

Further details, including the cause of the crash and the identity of the pilot, have not yet been released.
