SALT LAKE CITY — A woman is in critical condition after being hit by a passenger van in a crosswalk by Simpson Avenue and Highland Drive on Friday, officials said.

Salt Lake City Police Sgt. Worsencroft said that the driver of a passenger van was making a turn on Highland Drive from Simpson Avenue when the driver struck a woman who was in the crosswalk.

The victim is reported to have injuries that were considered to be life-threatening and was transported to a local hospital by ambulance.

The driver of the van was cooperative with police and impairment does not appear to be a factor, Worsencroft said.

The crash is currently under investigation.

Further details, including the identities of those involved, were not released.
