NORTH OGDEN – Some homeowners remained in disbelief Wednesday after discovering their Baby Jesus decorations were stolen from their nativity displays.
"I came out to go to work in the morning and I noticed one of the nativity figures was tipped over," said Bill Decker. "I walked out there to set it back up and noticed that the Baby Jesus was gone."
Decker said it was likely going to be difficult to replace the decoration and his family was disappointed someone would do such a thing.
"It's sad to see the world turning that way," wife Jacque Decker said. "You can't trust anybody."
They weren't the only ones to fall victim.
A few doors to the west, another home was missing its Baby Jesus. A woman who lived there told KSL-TV it had also recently vanished.
A neighbor across the street from that home said his surveillance camera captured a car appearing to be a blue or gray Subaru Impreza pulling up Monday after 8:30 p.m. and somebody exiting the vehicle.
Moments later, that same individual is seen in the surveillance footage running back toward the vehicle while carrying an object.
North Ogden Police said a vehicle of similar description was listed in a police report that had been filed on the case.
"We did hear that the police had a report of one up the hill from us that was also stolen," Bill Decker added.
Anybody with information in the case was asked to contact the North Ogden Police Department.
"All we want is we want for it to be returned," Decker said.
