LAYTON — Northridge High School and Mount Ogden Junior High will transition to online learning for two weeks due to the number of COVID-19 cases, school officials in the Davis and Ogden districts announced Tuesday.
According to Davis School District, administrators were informed by the Davis County Health Department that Northridge High School, located at 2430 N. Hill Field Road, had more than 15 COVID-19 cases over a 14-day rolling count.
Due to the number of cases, Northridge High will begin remote learning on Thursday.
There will be no instruction held on Wednesday, as it is being used as a period for teachers to prepare for remote learning, the district said in a news release.
The district noted in the release that students will be required to log in to daily video classes that will be held on Microsoft Teams, and that students must have their computer cameras on.
All Utah High School Activity Association-sanctioned competitions will continue through the 14-day window of remote learning; but if there are three or more cases within a group, that group will be required to quarantine for two weeks, the news release states.
According to Ogden School District official Jer Bates, Mt. Ogden Junior High will also transition to online learning on Thursday, Nov. 4. Mount Ogden Junior High has 15 positive cases, which meets the threshold in a two-week period.
In-person classes are anticipated to resume on Wednesday, Nov. 18, for both Northridge High School and Mount Ogden Junior High, according to the districts.
