TOOELE — Two men working security at a Tooele bar were stabbed early Saturday while trying to detain a man who was fighting others, according to police.

Daniel Lee Marquez, 46, was booked into the Tooele County Jail for investigation of aggravated assault.

Police were called to The Roost Bar, 104 N. Broadway Ave., about 1:30 a.m. Saturday on a report of a large fight, according to a police affidavit. Marquez was fighting several people in the road while holding a pool cue, the affidavit states. When the cue was taken away from him, Marquez pulled out a pocketknife.

Two men who were working security at the bar pinned Marquez against the outside wall of the bar and tried to take the knife away from him, but were both stabbed in their hands, according to the affidavit.

"The two victims stated they were able to get the knife out of Mr. Marquez's hand. Mr. Marquez was located walking away from the area and identified by the two victims," the affidavit states.
