YOU CAN NEVER UNSEE THIS-VILLE — One night in high school my friends and I piled into our friend Talmage's wood-paneled van known as "The Vinny." There were about seven of us crammed in there, and we were headed to Wendy's for a late-night run.
I always felt bad for whoever was taking our order on those runs because it was usually something along these lines: 15 junior bacon cheeseburgers, eight large fries, six Frostys, five small fries and, as always, seven water cups.
This night was one of these massive orders. And after digging into our pockets to find the loose change to pay for our meal, we headed back to one friend's house to eat the bounty on the driveway. As I sat down, I promptly removed the tomato from my burger. I like tomatoes but not on burgers, and after ordering all that food I wasn't going to ask the poor kitchen staff to make mine special.
Then, in true 17-year-old from, I frisbeed the tomato to the far end of the driveway. As soon as it went up, Talmage ran on all fours like a hungry puma and nearly caught the tomato on the fly. He hunched over it like Gollum and devoured it in mere seconds then galloped back to his food and continued to eat — but this time like a human, not a monster.
I froze with a hunk of burger in my mouth getting soggy; I was so shocked I couldn't even chew.
I relate this story because I am still friends with Talmage to this day, but I have never looked at him the same. Nothing was ever the same between us after that tomato frisbee incident.
Just like my relationship with Talmage changed, your relationship with "Eye of the Tiger" is about to be forever changed because of this video.
This YouTube channel is titled "There I Ruined It," and I have to say, they live up to their name. They took the classic rock song "Eye of the Tiger" and made a doo-wop version and, well, it's pretty awful. However, I do love the sound effects that are now cut to the classic "Rocky IV."
If you really think about it, it's not just that song you'll never look at the same, you're never going to look at "Rocky IV," the same. I'm actually sorry everyone, maybe you shouldn't watch this video.
