THE TRUTH COUNCIL — I have my issues that I will fight for to my dying breath. I will warn everyone I can about the Bearpocalypse and how we need to prepare for the eventual war between human and bear. I will argue with any person, animal or robot on this planet that soup is not a meal. And no one, not even George Lucas, will ever convince me that Han didn't shoot first.
It's these passions and beliefs that make me appreciate the man in this video so much.
I'd like to introduce you to Andrew Christensen, a resident of Lincoln, Nebraska. To call Christensen a resident really isn't doing the man justice. He's a patriot. Some may call him a hero. I call him a national treasure.
At a recent Lincoln City Council meeting Christensen got up and spoke about the real issues, pleading with the council to make a long-overdue change. He's tired of our children growing up naive and sheltered. He's tired of everyone accepting lies as truths and misnomers, thus creating a generation of misinformed children who will undoubtedly have some serious trust issues as they grow. In an effort to save parents and future adults a lot of therapy bills, Christensen is asking the city of Lincoln to change the name of boneless chicken wings.
"I go into nice family restaurants and see people throwing this name around and pretending as though everything is just fine. I’m talking about boneless chicken wings," Christensen said. "I propose that we as a city remove the name boneless wings from our menus and from our hearts"
Christensen goes on to list three well-founded and researched reasons as to why this name change needs to happen. I won't list them here, because I don't want to rob you of the power and conviction with which he shares them. I'll let you get behind the movement based on Christensen's conviction and not my simple paraphrasing of his brilliant oration.
Personally, I'm in. It's time we took responsibility for our mistakes of the past and call boneless chicken wings what they really are: saucy nuggets.
