SALT LAKE CITY — Two juveniles are in critical condition Sunday after the vehicle they were riding in crashed into the Jordan River in Salt Lake City Saturday night.
A Dodge Caliber was traveling west on Indiana Avenue near Delong Street when the incident occurred, according to Salt Lake City Police Sgt. Andrew Cluff.
"We believe excessive speeding was involved," Cluff said, "but for whatever reason, the 20-year-old driver lost control and ended up rolling into the Jordan River upside-down."
There were four juvenile passengers in the vehicle, Cluff said. Of those, two were able to extricate themselves along with the driver.
But two of them, a 2-year-old and 15-year-old, had to be removed by police and fire at the scene. They were transported to a hospital in critical condition, Cluff said.
The crash is under investigation.
