WENDOVER — One man was struck by an RV and killed early Saturday morning when he wandered into oncoming traffic on I-80 on the way home from Wendover, Nevada.

The incident happened about 1:21 a.m., according to the Utah Department of Public Safety. Three men in a Honda Civic were driving east from Wendover toward Salt Lake City when the two passengers, who had been drinking, said they needed to use the restroom. They pulled over on the freeway in rural Tooele County.

"While pulled over, one of the passengers began to walk towards traffic," the department wrote. He was hit by a 2019 Fleetwood RV and was pronounced dead at the scene.

On Monday, officials identified the man as Emmanuel Fuentes, age unknown, of Salt Lake City.

Neither the driver of the Civic nor the driver of the RV is suspected of impairment, the department said.
