HERRIMAN — Four people were critically injured in a crash on Tuesday afternoon, police confirmed.

The two-car collision occurred just before 2 p.m. at the intersection of Mountain View Corridor and Academy Parkway, Herriman police said.

The crash shut down northbound Mountain View Corridor at Porter Rockwell Boulevard about 2:30 p.m., but it had reopened by 7:30 p.m.

Four individuals were transported to a hospital with critical injuries; one man was airlifted to an area hospital.

Further information about the others injured in the crash — including age or gender — wasn’t immediately released. Additional details about the circumstances of the crash weren't available.

Police don’t suspect impairment played a role in the crash but the exact cause is under investigation.

Distracted driving is being investigated as a factor in the crash.
