SALT LAKE CITY — Two dogs died on Friday evening in a two-alarm house fire, Salt Lake City Fire officials said.
The fire, which spread from one home to a neighboring house, was located on Hubbard Avenue.
Fire officials responded to the scene just after 6 p.m.
The cause of the fire was under investigation Friday night but Salt Lake City Fire Battalion Chief Ryan Mellor said it might have started in a car before spreading to the first home.
No individuals were injured in the blaze and one dog and cat were rescued. Two other dogs died in the fire, officials said.
The blaze caused extensive damage to the first home but investigators were still determining the damage on Friday evening, Mellor said.
A neighboring home was also damaged.

Just before that fire, Salt Lake firefighters responded to another house fire on Friday night on Hartford Street, Mellor said.
That single-alarm attic fire also caused extensive damage to the home. No one was injured in the incident, Mellor said.
The cause of that fire was also under investigation Friday night.
