Baker Fire mapped at 401 acres, 71% contained

By 9 p.m., the Baker Fire had been officially mapped at 401 acres and was 75% contained. The fire had previously been estimated to be 600 acres. Shortly before then, firefighters had stopped forward progression of the fire.

Highway 138 Fire 100% contained; human-caused

The Highway 138 Fire which started in Tooele County on Thursday was 100% contained and mapped at 9.4 acres at 7:20 p.m.The fire was caused by sparks from an individual grinding metal, fire officials said.— Lauren Bennett, KSL.com

Sandbar Fire 100% contained; caused by arson

By 7:15 p.m. the human-caused Sandbar Fire in Stockton had been 100% contained.Authorities said the fire was caused by arson and the individual responsible was in jail.The #SandbarFire was mapped at 11.7 acres and is 100% contained. 600-acre fire burns south of Kanosh

An estimated 600-acre fire is burning in an area south of Kanosh in Millard County and east of I-15, fire officials say. The fire was initally estimated to be 200 acres.The blaze, named the Baker Fire, sparked Thursday afternoon and was spreading rapidly as of 4:35 p.m. Erratic winds pushed the fire north, fire officials reported.Air and ground resources were helping to fight the fire, as well.

10-acre fire burning east of Granstville

Firefighters were responding to an estimated 10-acre wildfire east of Granstville on Thursday afternoon, fire officials said.Forward progression on the blaze, dubbed the Highway 138 Fire, had stopped by 4:30 p.m.The fire burned on a debris pile about 10-12 acres on private property and threatened multiple outbuildings, according to North Tooele Fire officials.The fire burned within 20 feet of stables, causing the owners to worry about their animals.The cause is under investigation.— Lauren Bennett, KSL.com
