Greg Neft reporting The State Department of Wildlife says rabbit population, in particular the cottontail rabbit, is blooming like... rabbits.
"We're getting reports from biologists and conservation officers across the state that there's just a lot of cottontail rabbits out there this year," says Public Information Officer Mark Hadley.
Hadley says rabbits are often a popular target of hunters because it doesn't require a very heavy weapon. "The firearms that are used to hunt rabbits are very light firearms. Light shotguns, light rifles," he says.
