(KSL News) -- Starting today, the Salt Lake City Library will increase penalties for people who don't return library materials on time.
The Library will begin using an outside agency to help collect overdue fines. Once materials become seven weeks overdue, patrons are charged for the materials, and their account is turned over the Unique Management collection agency.
When Unique Management gets the account, it will send reminder letters, and eventually make phone calls encouraging people to return library materials and pay their fines.
