A group of students at American Fork High School is busy tying bows and getting hundreds of poinsettias ready for the holiday season.
In the classroom, the desks are covered with poinsettias.
"Most of the classes you don't get to do a lot of hands-on stuff, but in here it's almost all hands on," said one student.
Each year, agriculture students start the flowers in the summer, and then floral design students take over until they've bloomed and are ready to head out to homes.
"They learn just a lot about plant growth, fertilization and that kind of thing," said teacher Jake Anderson.
He says they had about 800 poinsettias in the high school greenhouse, but they've already sold more than half of them. The money for the flowers goes back into the program so they can buy other flowers for the students to work with and grow more poinsettias again next year.
