(KSL News) A man accused of kidnapping and killing a 7-year-old girl must undergo a mental competency evaluation before he can stand trial.
Esar Met is accused of killing Hser Nay Moo on March 31 at the apartment complex where they both lived. Her body was found the next day.
Met's lawyers tell the Deseret News he must be evaluated by a psychologist fluent in Burmese to determine if he is competent to stand trial. Met is a Burmese refugee.
A judge has pushed the preliminary hearing to April.
