Sandra Yi ReportingPolice are investigating a rash of shootings in Ogden this week. Investigators say it's all gang related.
The suspects and victims are all teenagers. Since Sunday at least six people have been hurt in a series of shootings and a stabbing. Some of those crimes happened in broad daylight. Police say two gangs have been fighting all week long.
Lt. Loring Draper: "These two gangs have been fighting for quite a while."
The battle between two of Ogden's most notorious gangs has led to a string of shootings.
Lt. Loring Draper: "I haven't got a clue what set this off."
On Sunday a teenager was shot in the face in a drive-by shooting. Two days later, three more teens were targeted as they sat outside a home on 28th Street. Police say they saw the same car drive by several times.
Lt. Loring Draper, Ogden Police Dept.: "While these three individuals were sitting on a porch, the same vehicle drove by, the passenger leaned out and fired a shotgun."
Police believe a stabbing the next day was retaliation. A teen was stabbed in the arm, four blocks away from the drive-by shooting.
Lt. Loring Draper: "I'm not sure who stabbed who under what circumstances, but it's still the same opposing gangs."
Then yesterday a 14-year old boy ran in to a rival gang member, when he went to visit a mutual friend at the house on Adams Street. The rival gang member pulled out a handgun and shot the victim twice in the back before running away.
Lt. Loring Draper: "As he was running out, he shouted his gang name and fired four rounds at the two other victims sitting in the backyard. He didn't hit them and they all ran."
The victim is in critical condition at the hospital.
Police say the gang unit actively looks for gang members to prevent retaliation. School resource officers are also paying attention to people hanging out at the school. They say residents can also do their part.
Det. Loring Draper, Ogden Police Dept.: "Biggest thing is to pay attention to those around in your neighborhood, who you're letting in your house, who your kids are hanging out with."
Police have arrested two teens they believe are behind the shootings. They're still looking for a third suspect who is considered armed and dangerous. He is also a juvenile.
Police hope the arrests will calm some of the gang activity for now.
