Greg Neft reporting Break out the coats and sweaters! Snow is expected in the northern Utah mountains this weekend, and outdoor retailers hope a lot of the white stuff on the ground will mean more of the green stuff in their pockets.
Charlie Butler co-owns Wasatch Touring. He says while it may not last, he expects the snow to bring extra floor traffic, "Typically, you know, we get snow this early, it's going to melt. But it does definitely generate a bunch of enthusiasm. So that's not a bad thing."
KSL meteorologists say a Pacific cold front will be crossing Utah Friday, bringing rain, wind, and cold. The storm moves out Saturday but the cold lingers. In fact, it's expected to remain cooler-than-normal for the next seven days.
As for himself, Butler says he, too, has arranged things around the snow, "We were planning on doing some boating this weekend, but I think our plans are changing," he says.
