(KSL News) -- The city of North Salt Lake has a new mayor.
Council members appointed Shanna Schaefermeyer to the position.
Schaefermeyer is a former educator, and served on the city council. She takes over for Mayor Kay Briggs who is heading overseas to work.
Scaefermeyer will serve as mayor until next year's election.
