Keith McCord ReportingMost of us are familiar with Classified Ads -- a place where you can buy or sell just about anything. They're obviously not just a newspaper staple anymore, you can find them on the Internet, which leads us to an item we saw on the KSL.com classified page.
A guy selling a motorcycle got VERY creative and a lot of response! For Sale, a 2006 Suzuki GSXR 1000 motorcycle. The seller, named Steve, writes, "I'm selling it because it was purchased without proper consent of a loving wife. Apparently: "Do whatever the H*** you want" doesn't mean what I thought." Price 10-thousand dollars.
The owner and author of the ad is Steve Dyer. His "Loving wife" is Tanna.
Reporter: "You still love him?"
Tanna Dyer: "I still love him. There are days when I don't like him, but I love him every day (laugh.)"
Tanna and Steve live in Farmington and listed the bike on KSL.com's classified page a month ago. Steve's only had the bike for about six months. The ad, which Steve did clear with Tanna beforehand, has gotten a lot of response from coast-to-coast.
Problem is, people are more interested in the ad than the bike. It's been circulated and forwarded through e-mails, and during the past month, it's been viewed more than 114-thousand times!
Tanna Dyer: "Many people who called Steve, didn't actually want the bike-they just wanted to know, if the ad was real."
Steve Dyer: "People with marital advice mostly. Not a lot of interest in the bike itself. People giggling and laughing about what I had to say."
Tanna Dyer: "But they usually send messages to Steve saying get rid of the wife and keep the bike."
Now, it's not that Tanna doesn't want Steve to have a motorcycle, he used to have one years ago. It's about keeping the household budget in check. When the bills get paid, she says, he can have another bike.
Tanna Dyer: "And I told him I'll go with him, I'll pick out the bike, I'll pay for it, I'll drive you there."
Reporter: "So you've just created a stir and everybody's having a good joke out of it?"
Steve Dyer: "Ah yeah....that's how it's worked out."
The ad on ksl.com is about to expire. If Steve re-lists it, he's not sure yet of the wording he'll use in the new ad.
